To: Governor Ralph Northam, Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax, and My State Legislators

Whereas: The Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) is a regional carbon tax scheme that would likely cost Virginians $5.9 billion over 10 years by raising residential power bills by 10 percent according to estimates from the State Corporation Commission; and

Whereas: The RGGI has little if any impact on carbon emissions according to the Congressional Research Service; and

Whereas: Lower income Virginians that Democrats say they support the most will be the ones hurt the most by this policy; and

Whereas: Radical environmentalists spent hundreds of thousands of dollars during the 2019 campaign to get Democrats elected and are now demanding a return on their investment; and

Whereas: The Congressional Research Service has declared the RGGI's impact is more political than environmental.

Therefore: I call on you to hold the line against the Governor's proposed carbon tax and any additional proposed carbon taxes.
